Thanks for taking some time to read about us. My name is Barb and I’m the founder and creator of what has turned out to be this fun, challenging, and fulfilling adventure called Hope’s Flame. Let me tell you a bit about our story.

In the Beginning…
The idea for Hope’s Flame started when I found out my mom had cancer. Living thousands of miles apart, we eliminated the distance by lighting a candle together. Soon, our candles became more than just a symbol of unity and closeness—they were beacons of light for a variety of hopes, intentions, meditations, and wishes.

Searching for just the right candle was a challenge for me. Sure, I could go to a discount store and buy lots of them on the cheap. But they lacked character and the quality was poor. Since the candles represented something special, I wanted them to be special. So I turned to candle and boutique stores. But the candles at these places were expensive and sometimes a bit obtrusive in their design and scents. I was having a hard time finding something in the middle that offered a good selection at reasonable prices and came with just the right words to express what the candle meant to me.

So, a candle kit and several practice candles later, I was making just the candle I was looking for. And from there, well, that involves the support of my amazing husband and encouragement from my wonderful friends. And I’d be remiss if I didn’t mention my neighbor who built three special work tables for my studio. Those tables made me feel “official,” and helped me see Hope’s Flame as a real possibility.
